Parc Güell, Barcelona

06/30/13

This past weekend I visited Barcelona and got the chance to visit Parc Güell, a park designed by the famous Gaudi. The park was flooded with a lot of tourists, but for good reason. The park was amazingly designed, and gave me the chance to understand that Gaudi built the essence of true Spanish culture and style in his architecture.

Gaudi's architecture aimed to mimic nature in the closest possible way (above is his interpretation of a wave). But what I love the most about his architecture is the colorful and intricate mosaics that cover almost every inch of his structures.

Hannah's bible. We live by this book when touring Spain!

Gaudi's home.

After Parc Güell we had lunch at Els Quatre Gats, a place where young Picasso used to frequent. The Four Cats gets its name from its four founders, meaning only you and a few people. Shown above is Ramon Casas (one of the founders) lighthearted self-portrait of himself and Romeu riding a tandem bicycle.

Barcelona's gothic architecture is amazing, and pictures don't do it any justice.

More from La Sagrada Familia to come!
